Although my copy of Joy of Cooking is a bit worn now, it is my favorite cookbook. The 8th edition, pubished in 2006, is also known as the 75th Anniversary edition. The site is selling the 75th anniversary edition of the 'Joy of Cooking cookbook for $12 plus $5. Using the Joy of Cooking (75th anniversary edition) as a reference point, I made a dry rub with chili powder, paprika, cumin, garlic salt, and brown sugar. She worked at an editor on the 75th anniversary edition of Joy of Cooking, and was a dining critic and food writer at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. While writing this post I have discovered there was another release of Joy in 2006; a 75th Anniversary edition with 500 new recipes! Selections include: The Essential NY Times Cookbook, James Beard's American Cookery, Joy of Cooking 75th Anniversary Edition, Gourmet Today, & Cooks Illustrated Cookbook. I used the Southern Corn Bread recipe from Joy of Cooking (75th anniversary edition, page 632). It was really fun to see the batter start cooking as soon as I poured it in the hot pyrex dish. I let that permeate the meat for a couple of hours.
